In the news lately is the case of the 'human lab rats' whos medical trial went wrong with six of the men who had taken part having a dangerous lergic reaction to the drugs and ending up in intensive care. This is a terribly sad story, and I'm sure all the men would claim they where par-taking in the research to benefit 'human kind.' Isn't medical training seen as a way of earning a few extra pounds for simply swallowing a few pills? The men where reportedly getting paid £2000 which in fair ness for swallowing a few pills and taking a few days off work doesn't sound like a bad deal.
But then, does this mean the men valued their own health and life at £2000? I don't value my life, or health to be worth £2000. Its priceless. Does it make the people taking part selfish? greedy? simply in need of extra cash? or do they truly believe for the sum of £2000 they where helping out man kind?
The company that executed the medical trial had never tested on humans prior to this event.

I was recently in an department store and there was a lady speaking quite loudly to customer service, she was having quite a heated debate over returning some item of clothing. She was black. The two men helping her out at customer service were also black. The lady complaining wasn't getting very far in being given a refund and decided to declare, "Is it cos I'm black?" I admittedly smiled and was taken back a bit at this comment. The two guys serving the lady suddenly held the same expression.
